An Editorial with Ann Lundquist
March 6, 2018
I recently photographed Ann, an interior designer, and her beautiful house for a feature in the March 2018 issue of Bellevue Club’s Reflections Magazine. When I arrived at her home, I was already blown away by how it really stood out amongst the other surrounding homes in the neighborhood. It was a Victorian-looking, cream-colored house that had vines reaching out and around the windows and walls. I felt like I entered a different time period. The interior was just as amazing, complemented by elegant furnishings, comfy sofas and antique accessories.
I wanted to convey the beauty and mood of her house along with her portraits. I also wanted to include her cute, little chihuahua, Biscuit, as he is an integral part of her life :) I loved the natural light coming from the windows and the ambient light from the incandescent lamps, which gave the natural vibe of the place. The ambient light was great for showing off the environment but not enough to light Ann nicely so I set up a softbox as my key light to my left to light her up. I always try and make my artificial lighting look as natural as possible by maintaining light ratios that are close to natural lighting.
